This super-sized statement ring is inspired by the painting entitled ‘Summer Idleness: Day Dreams’ by John William Godward (above). The female is imagined to be an ancient-Roman Empress, spending an afternoon at leisure, who could wear this ring to compliment her royal purple dress and her gold hair bands. The pink flowers that she is holding, and the green notes in the painting, are reflected in the pink rubellites on the ring and the green enamel respectively. This piece contains a generous amount of 18 carat yellow gold, which gives the ring a quality, weighty feel – fit for an Empress.
