18ct yellow gold, rubies, diamonds, turquoise and onyx.
This piece is inspired by George Breitner’s painting entitled ‘The Red Kimono’ (below). The flowing lines of the kimono are contrasted against the strong black lines of the sitter’s environment. This has been reflected in the twisting of the ruby and onyx beads, and the geometric lines within the pendant. The white and blue detailing on the kimono are represented by hand-carved turquoise stones and 81 glittering diamonds.
This piece measures 5cm x 5cm square and hangs low at approx 31 inches. The gallery on the reverse of the necklace has been crafted in a japanese-architectural style, in keeping with the japanese theme.
